Once in awhile I’ll sign in to my promo box and get blown away by what I hear. The Swedish outfit, House Music With Love (HMWL) was gracious enough to send me some new material from a couple of guys from Seoul by way of Berlin. Rust & Dust is a duo consisting of Marcus Eastmask and Mang Elio, their new EP Gaje is well on the way to becoming my number one favorite. I affectingly refer to it as “Deep House with Seoul.” Marcus and Mange lend their talents to multiple musical projects as well as solo DJ careers all while traveling back and forth between their native Korea and Germany. The sound of Rust & Dust can be best described as having a moody Deep/Tech House vibe with elements of experimental ambient grooves.
The First track on the EP is the self-titled song Gaje, which has a proper intro (for you deejays out there), a driving bass line, crispy hi-hats, solid percussion and a moody melody. A radio edit of the second track Lago (featuring vocals by Miti) gets right down to business, with a serious Deep House vibe. The original mix of Lago is more of the same, but with a longer intro for blending into another track or simply starting off your set. Lago has an overall somber melancholic feeling to it, with a very danceable punchy bass line, tight percussion, flowing synths and just the right tempo for grooving. This release will be available on January 19, 2015 and I highly recommend you pick it up.
